Welcome friend to Consider Yourself Hugged episode 57: Today’s Hug: Peace After Losing a Loved One. Click here or pic to listen.
I’m Dr. Tami West, here every week to bring you tips on living a life that brings you mental and emotional wellbeing.
Last month I was blessed to speak at Hopkinsville, KY Middle School at their Parent/Teacher Conference event. That night I met Claudia and she shared her story. Claudia and her husband Patrick have 2 boys, Lucas and Nicholas. On 3/2/2018 Nicholas passed in the night at the young age of 19. Claudia told me that Nicholas left a legacy forever, and I immediately knew I wanted her to share that with you. We recorded on March 2nd, two years to the date after his death, and before the Coronavirus pandemic. I know you may have lost someone to this illness. Or maybe you're separated from family, elderly parents, children. I think Claudia's words will inspire you through this time!
Claudia sent me her bio and some pictures of her special family, and now I bring that to you!
About Claudia
Hi my name is Claudia I am Italian but grew up in Germany. Came to the States in 1988. Became American citizen in 1999 I believe. I was married before for about 9 years and divorced in 1997. Had no children with my ex-husband. I got married again in 1998 to my husband Patrick and we've been married for 21 years . This year will be 22 years in September. by the grace of God. I became born again Christian on the 24th of June in 2001. I had an older son Nicholas who passed away in March 2nd 2018. That was really hard time I would not know how it would have been not having God in my life. My son Nicholas was born again so I know he is with God. I miss him dearly. He was my shopping buddy and he liked veggies and liked to talk about God. I have another son his name is Lucas he will be 13 in April. I am thankful for my family and church family.
Romans 10:8-9 NIV Â 9 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord" and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. Advice
· You appreciate people when you lose them.
· Later, you see things about that person that make you go "wow!".
· God got her through it.
· Church family is so important.
· People are important.
· Comfort those who have been through similar difficulties.
· Time changes pain to something hard to identify.
· We need God and people.
· Death is painful for those left behind, but life always has meaning!
And sadly, as always, that’s our time for today. I hope Claudia's story will bless you as it blessed me. She truly is special and Nicholas's legacy will live on forever.
