Show Notes CYH Episode 31: The Spot on My Face – A Lesson in Decision Making

Welcome friends to Consider Yourself Hugged episode 31. Today’s Hug: The Spot on My Face – A Lesson in Decision Making (Click here to listen).

I’m Dr. Tami West, here every week to bring you tips on living a life that brings you mental and emotional wellbeing.

Today I'll share a story with you that forced me to make a decision based on thought and processing - not fear and emotion (Click to hear). First I'll share just the story. Then I'll walk you through my processing. Then I'll cover these 6 steps (I'll recap them without commentary at the end of the notes so you can copy/paste for your own use).

1. What was the initial basic emotion? Maybe anger, then embarrassment more complex (Click here to listen to the emotions episode)

2. What thoughts am I having? (Why would she say that? Am I a monster? I can’t believe this spot keeps coming up!)

3. Is it negatively affecting me? (In my biz – I don’t think so. Emotionally, probably)

4. What are my values? Now this goes back to episode 20 – Living Your Beliefs (Click here to listen). (I said the 4 most important things to me are God, marriage, kids college debt, career. I have done and do things in my life to look better – some everyday things and some more extreme. And I don’t think I ever really think about it because it’s not going to cost me $2500. Now, being completely transparent on the more extreme end, I did something years ago that cost more than that and I might share at some point but not now. Would I do it again today – I’m not sure. But makeup, spot cover, dying hair, all those things. Wy do I do them?) That takes me to #4

5. Is this an unknown value? (If I decide to do it I have to admit that it IS a value – maybe not one of the top 4, but I could take $2500 and put it on kids debt or give to husband or invest in real business stuff. OR maybe it is affecting business.)

6. Ultimately It’s my decision, and no one else’s.

And that’s our time for today. I hope your learned something today that will help you to with decision making! Please pass the show link along to a friend or two. Look around here at tamiwest.com to get info if you’d like me to speak at your next event. The monthly giveaway will come from leaving a comment on the blog there so be sure to do that. It’s still a CYH mug, which I know you’ll love. And thank you for listening – our community is growing!

Finally, remembering our mental & emotional wellbeing goal, I hope that you will renew your thoughts daily, adopt empowering language that prevents verbal harm to yourself and others, and make positive mental and emotional choices on a daily basis.

And until next time, Consider Yourself Hugged 😘🤗
