I’m Dr. Tami West, here every week to bring you tips on living a life that brings you mental and emotional wellbeing.
Matt Upton is one of the most positive people I have ever met! I’ve seen him speak 4 or 5 times, watched his motivational videos on Facebook, and followed his posts that always lift me up. Today, Matt shares some very personal stories about his life that he’s overcome and shares to help us! Then he’s going to teach you how to have a serving spirit.

Some of my favorite quotes from our chat:
When you’re pouring yourself out there, what happens is, that spills back on you in so many ways.
Serving checks your ego at the door.
When my ego gets in the way I edge the grandeur of life right out. Some would say I edge God out. I become this one-dimensional person – my body. And my body has to have other people paying attention to it. My soul and my spirit thrive on serving other people. Serving bigger causes than me.
When you serve well, joy happens to you.
When you’re trying to heal, focus on what you can do (serve!) rather than what you can’t do.
Serving is The Great Anecdote to self-promotion.
The byproduct of fulfillment is both success and happiness.
When you chase happiness and success, you’re focusing on yourself.
Life is a journey; I wanna go forward!
Matt’s 4 tips to develop a serving spirit:
1. Look at your location in your life right now.
2. Establish and estimate what fulfillment would be for you.
3. Be willing to make adjustments when you move forward toward whatever fulfillment is for you.
4. Plan what it’s gonna be like in that new land of fulfillment.
5. (One extra pointer!) Speak more about what you want and less about what you don’t want.
And that’s our time for today. I hope your learned something today about serving because you have heard from the expert! Please pass the show link along to a friend or two.
