CYH Episode #78: Issues Surrounding "The Dance" - Grammy's Part II

Welcome to Consider Yourself Hugged: A Place for Women! Click here to listen to Episode 77. (***Disclaimer: We provide these notes as a skeleton for the show - nothing fancy 😄)

Hey ladies! First, warning: GRAPHIC VIDEO (Click here to watch)! Now, why are we posting it? Lots of discussion/disagreement about this Grammy performance, particularly as it relates to women. We see SO many layers of discussion here and want to have a conversation about it on one of our upcoming podcast episodes. We’d like to know your thoughts. Please be respectful to one another as you comment. (Click to see post)

We had lots of comments, in fact, too much to talk about in one episode. We tried our best to organize the comments into general categories. We discussed some of the issues last week in Part 1. Today we'll finish up!

1. Setting example for children

a. Is there a time & a place?

b. Called inappropriate for families watching the Grammys.

If you are looking to the entertainment industry to set an example for your child, then …. Hollywood is probably never going to be “moral” for many’s definition of morality.

2. Double standards/the Patriarch

Megan: Despite having to deal with double standards that come with working in a male-dominated industry, Megan made it clear in her Marie Claire April 2020 cover story that she's not going anywhere. (Read more.)

3. Generational divide/change

From our Facebook post: There’s always fighting against change: jazz, heavy metal, grung, r&b, and rap. (see the post.)

4. Demonizing the performer as this is totally who she is

Megan: Once the COVID-19 pandemic hit, the star sprung into action to help out her hometown. Megan made her first donation to a nursing facility in Houston called Park Manor. (read more.)

As always, Please pass the show link along to a friend or two and subscribe, download, and review wherever you are listening. If you haven’t joined our private FB group, now's the time! We've changed the name to A Place for Women: Consider Yourself Hugged. It’ll be your source to continue the conversations with women and for feeling understood and supported!

Thank you so much for listening and growing our special community of women!

And until next time ladies, Consider Yourself Hugged 😘🤗
